DPW Director - Town of Middleborough, MA The Town of Middleborough with a population of 22,000 is accepting resumes for the position of Department of Public Works Director. The Department of Public Works Director oversees the Highway Department, Sanitation Department and serves as the Tree Warden for the Town of Middleborough. The Director supervises the construction and maintenance of streets, roads, bridges, sidewalks, drains, storm-control structures, waterways and related facilities; plans and lays out the construction, maintenance and operational work of the Highway Department; and is responsible for the planning and operation of curbside rubbish and recyclable collection. The Director also supervises the Water Superintendent and Wastewater Superintendent. The Department of Public Works Director works under the administrative direction of the Town Manager and in conformance with federal, state and local regulatory laws, rules and regulations. Requirements include an Associates Degree in engineering or ten (10) years experience in Highway construction and maintenance; ten (10) years supervisory experience including experience in budgeting and planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors Degree and P.E. preferred. Water Treatment Plant Operator Town of Wakefield, MA The Wakefield Department of Public Works currently has an opening for a W-8 Water Treatment Plant Operator in the Water Division. In this position you will operate the town’s water treatment plant, to include but not limited to: diagnose, install, test, repair and maintain equipment and systems used to process and distribute water and facility infrastructure; maintain inventory of spare parts; maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, pumping related activities, and other related items; inspect and monitor water supply and related systems; perform other duties as assigned by the Water/Sewer Supervisor, to include: duties of lower classified positions. In order to be qualified for this position you must possess a minimum of a High School Diploma, 3 to 5 years of treatment plant experience, must have a state certified Treatment Plant Operator’s License grade 2T or higher (3T preferred) and must be proficient in operating computers and software, such as: water systems programs, excel, word, windows, etc. Within six months of appointment, you must obtain a Commercial Drivers License, to include: air brakes, general knowledge, and tanker, endorsements and must possess a confined space safety certificate within six (6) months of appointment. A requirement of this position is being available during emergency situations, such as: snow & ice operations, water/sewer breaks, and other department emergencies. The Chief of Housing and Compliance reports to the department Director, performs highly responsible, supervisory work in the enforcement of the City of Providence Zoning Ordinance and Minimum Housing Standards, serves as the Zoning Official, supervises the conduct of housing quality surveys; ensures that all existing housing conforms with the Minimum Housing Standards Ordinance; reviews building permit applications to assure compliance with the Zoning Ordinance; supervises staff including a zoning assistant, inspectors, prosecution coordinator, court coordinator, and clerical employees. The Alternate Building Official reports directly to the Building Official on all matters relating to the State Building Code and its enforcement, and for all administrative matters concerning the Division. The Alternate Building Official is the division supervisor and is responsible for the assignment of all personnel within the Division.
